Where we've been & where we're going (biographies)

Arlene Clapp

Arlene Clapp is, by her own admission, a curious creature.

She’s curious about the world around her — what moves us to do the things we do and find the things we excel in.

She has a rare combination of qualities that are both compelling and effective. Instant likeability. Tenacity. A love of inquiry. And a passion for research.

Arlene was educated at the University of Minnesota, and served as an elementary school teacher, mentoring and encouraging fifth and sixth grade students in Minnesota, Virginia, and Maryland.

After 14 years as a teacher, she left education to work in the employment field. Since 1978, she has been happily engaged in the search business — and since 1992 she has owned her own business specializing in real estate and construction placements.

Arlene is a sports fan. A fanatic in the stands, she's always ready to take the field for her team — whether they're the Minnesota Twins, Vikings, Gophers ... or her clients and candidates.

Finally, Arlene's role as recruiter is more than an assignment to her. She is genuinely interested in the well-being of both her clients and her candidates.

Jennifer Clapp Doane

A desire to know is what compels Jennifer in her career path. To know what it’s like to work in a large corporation, in a horse barn and in a small office.

Happily, her feet have always landed on terra firma, and although she loves the smell of freshly cut hay and the sound of happily munching beasts, she has found herself contentedly and firmly planted in a boutique search firm. Perfect, as seeking and finding are two of the things that Jennifer does best.

From corporate cubicle to an office with four walls, Jennifer has not taken the straight line from A to B but has made a more creative, web-like design of her career path.

With a degree in biology from St. Olaf College, she originally aspired to become an equine vet, but after acceptance into veterinary school she decided that her life ambitions had shifted slightly.

With positions at large corporations like Target and General Mills as well as at smaller firms in the Twin Cities, she believes that her unique experiences have given her a perfect mix of reading people and knowing when to move on and when to stay put. This of course is never done without careful consideration and she treats her clients and candidates with the same regard knowing that a good fit needs to be a great fit; that people are not a commodity and that both sides matter.

When not helping clients and candidates with respect to their employment needs, Jennifer loves to spend time with her husband Jonathan and their two dogs, Reggie and Ed. Together she and Jonathan embark on trips to the North Shore and around the globe. They are also burgeoning triathletes, a desire they've had since watching their first Hawaii Ironman on television. One day, they, too, will be pumping their fists in the air as they cross the finish line in Kona.

May we present the Clapps?
